About Ted Bullock

So who am I?

Personally, I'm not certain, but I can tell you about some of the stuff that I have done while being me, as well as some other stuff that you may or may not find to be interesting.

For starters, my first name isn't Ted. Actually, my first name is Theodore. Next, my last name isn't Bullock; it actually is Bulcock, but for obvious(?) reasons, I go by Bullock. One of the neat thing about going by Ted Bullock is that occasionally I get asked if I am related to Sandra Bullock; the answer to which is (none of your business).

Also, before we continue, I should note that I am not the only Ted Bullock wandering the face of the earth. For instance, their is a Ted Bullock who lives in Australia who seems to be something of an avionics aficionado.

There was also a man named Ted Bullock who has recently passed away (2005) who apparently led a succesful career as a neuroscientist at a university in San Diego.

So if you came to this website looking for information on either of those two men, you are unfortunately going to have to acknowledge that at this time you have read the entirety of the information that I know about either of those two men, but if you are interested in another Ted, by all means go ahead and investigate them. Please remember that I expect you to come back to this website, or at least send me an email.

Education

I managed to graduate with a degree in Software Engineering from the University of Calgary in June of 2007. I took six years to complete the degree including a sixteen month engineering internship. I am now on the path to becoming a registered Professional Engineer.

That's the generic boring description of my education. Did you like it?

The reality is that I have have grown immeasurably since my first day of post-secondary school and not simply because I have learned a number of computer languages and concepts. The most important aspects of my education have occurred outside of the normal institute of education. This website is in part, an expression of that education, and is focussed solely on my experiences on my bike trip across canada.

The most important bits of my education have occurred through relationships, jobs, reading books, moving away from home, browsing the world wide web, working on hobbies, moving again, being the poor student, travelling, feeding my turtle, moving yet again, playing.... living.

I like to describe my education as follows: It's like when trying to shovel a long length of snow from a sidewalk; full tilt and then being jarred as the blade of the shovel rams into the lip of the next sidewalk block. It's been a blast and I'll cherish it forever.
